SBA DISASTER RELIEF RESOURCES:

The Housing Grants Office may assist with recovery efforts through the SHIP Program:

Eligibility:
• Income-based for low to moderate-income persons determined by the number of household occupants
• The home must owner occupied and eligible for repairs
• Additional eligibility requirements may be determined through a pre-screening

Assistance:
• Disaster Mitigation Assistance Grant up to $30,000.00 for storm-damaged homes following a declared state of emergency to include:
• Purchase of emergency supplies for eligible households to weatherproof damaged homes
• Interim repairs to avoid further damage; tree and debris removal required to make the individual housing unit habitable.
• Construction of wells or repair of existing wells where public water is not available
• Payment of insurance deductibles for rehabilitation of homes covered under homeowners’ insurance policies
• Security deposit for eligible recipients who have been displaced from their homes due to a disaster
• Rental assistance for eligible recipients who have been displaced from their homes due to a disaster
• Strategies included in the approved LHAP that benefit applicants directly affected by the declared disaster
• Emergency Repair or Rehabilitation Assistance up to $50,000.00 for home repairs, including roofing, electrical, plumbing, sanitary disposal, life/safety conditions, structural code deficiencies, and other related repairs.
• Property must be owner-occupied.
• 10 Year Mortgage Loan, or 5 Year Mortgage Loan for residents 62 years or older
• No interest or monthly payments
• The loan is forgiven as long as the terms are met for the duration of the loan
