10:45 AM CENTRAL TIME
The Jackson County Board of County Commissioners is providing important information regarding storm debris management following Hurricane Isaias.
Based on the nature and extent of the storm’s impacts, Jackson County will not activate its storm debris contractors for residential debris collection in unincorporated areas of the county.
Information for Residents in Unincorporated Jackson County
Residents living outside incorporated city or town limits should not move or push storm-generated debris from private property into the public right-of-way in anticipation of a County debris collection operation.
Because the County’s storm debris contractors will not be activated for residential debris collection, material placed along public roadways will not be collected through a County storm debris pickup operation.
Placing debris in public rights-of-way may also obstruct roadways, interfere with drainage systems, and create additional hazards for motorists, emergency responders, and road maintenance personnel.
Residents are asked to keep storm debris on their property and avoid placing materials in roadways, ditches, drainage areas, or public rights-of-way.
Information for Residents Within City or Town Limits
Residents living within incorporated municipalities in Jackson County should refer to their respective city or town’s official website or communication channels for information regarding debris collection, cleanup procedures, and other storm recovery services.
Municipal debris management procedures may differ from those applicable to unincorporated Jackson County.
Keeping Roadways Safe During Recovery
As recovery efforts continue, Jackson County encourages all residents to help maintain safe and accessible roadways by keeping debris and other obstructions out of public rights-of-way and drainage areas.
The County appreciates residents’ patience, understanding, and cooperation as the community continues recovering from Hurricane Isaias.
